Alausa Extol President Tinubu ..... Inaugurates Newly Appointed Principal Officers Of Nabteb, UBEC and Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, ..... Enjoined Them To Serve Diligently.

Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa
Minister of Education

"We have a different Ministry of Education now. The Ministry of Education has multiple roles but the two major roles is to formulate policies, and oversight of various Departments, Agencies under it." Alausa.

Nigeria's Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Maruf Alausa has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a fervent and benevolent believer in Human Capital Development, who is serving the country wholeheartedly.

The Minister stated this during the inauguration of the newly appointed Principal Officers of NABTEB, UBEC and the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister emphasized the urgency for collaboration with key regulatory bodies, including JAMB and NUC, to facilitate seamless admissions processes.

This is as the Minister also directed the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor and Principal Officers of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), to ensure the institution admits its first students by September.

According to the the Minister, "We have a President that is serving the country in a whole-hearted manner and more importantly, is that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a fervent and benevolent believer in Human Capital Development and, when we talk about human capital development, we talk about education as the biggest chunk of the sector, health and social protection.

"This President is so committed to this sector that he has given education the most highest political attention, will, and funding for education and our sitting here today, is a testimony to that.

"The President is recruiting, talent hunting capable hands to run these Agencies. I am limiting myself to the education sector, though the President is paying much attention to all sectors of the economy. And as we see today, as a leader, if you are going to lead, you take bold decisions, it might not be a popular decision, but bold decisions that you know would put the country on the part of sustainability and that is what he has been doing since he was elected to serve the people of Nigeria.

"We have seen some of the results now. Our economy is actually on a solid footing now. The improvement we are seeing is not based on superficialities. It is not based on going to get loans to do patch work. We are seeing real economy and Nigeria is now a focus of attention of international investors.

Dr Alausa thanked President Tinubu, "We are thankful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for these and more importantly for us in the education sector, for the attention the President has been giving to us. They say to whom more is given, more is expected.

The Minister enjoined the recently appointed officials to serve diligently, saying that, "I call on everyone today, who has been given this opportunity to serve, you never have a better opportunity in this World, but to be recognized to serve your people. It's really a big deal, not many people get this kind of opportunity and as you have been called to serve, you need to do it, and for everything you do, it has to benefit the citizens of Nigeria, not you.

He advised them to be focused and not be deterred. "You have to stay focused to serving the people. Be focused to serving the people. Stay focused to your principles. There's going to be an exit point, whatever you are doing, there will be an exit point. You want to be able to look back and think; what have I done to improve the educational sector of this country?.

"We are recruiting people that we know have passion and beyond passion, have experiences, to handle these various Agencies and Departments of government in the education sector.

"Everyone that is here today, you have been carefully recruited, selected, vetted because we knew you have the competence."

The Minister assured the newly inaugurated officials that, "We have a different Ministry of Education now. The Ministry of Education has multiple roles but the two major roles is to formulate policies, and oversight of various Departments, Agencies under it.

"The Ministry of Education may not have played that oversight role effectively in the past but, we now have a reinvigorated Ministry of Education that is playing its oversight role.

"We will let you, give you space to run your various Agencies and Departments, but you have to run it in tandem with the Agenda of the Nigerian education sector Renewal Initiatives. Alausa advised.

On behalf of the new appointees, FUMMSA Vice-Chancellor Professor Fatiu Arogundade expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and pledged to uphold integrity, transparency, and excellence.

He assured the government of their commitment to establishing a lasting legacy in education.

Other newly appointed Officials include Dr. Mohammed Aminu, Registrar, NABTEB; Tunde Ajibulu, Deputy Executive Secretary (Service), UBEC; and Olajuwon Akinyebi, Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), UBEC.
