NASCP WARNS AGAINST MISINFORMATION ON HIV SPREAD .... Says "Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Drugs Are Free For HIV Patients."

"Government and various partners have implemented measures to ensure uninterrupted access to ART drugs for those who need them." Dr. Adebobola Bashorun, Director/National Coordinator NASCP.

"Let's put our minds at rest; HIV transmission can and should be prevented with proper precautions. Treatment is available for those living with the virus."

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has debunked reports in certain news outlets of a possible widespread outbreak of HIV in the country, describing the claim/report as totally false.

The Ministry, through the National AOs, Vral Hepatitis and STs Control Programme, NASCP, states that "A misleading video has been circulating on TikTok claiming that an increase in ART drug prices will lead to a widespread outbreak of HIV."

"This claim and information within are totally false." NASCP stressed.

According to Dr. Adebobola Bashorun, the Director/National Coordinator, "the truth is that ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) drugs are free for HIV patients, and they are taken daily. The drugs are available and accessible in health facilities when prescribed by health professionals."

Dr. Bashorun disclosed that, "Government and various partners have implemented measures to ensure uninterrupted access to ART drugs for those who need them.

"Let's put our minds at rest; HIV transmission can and should be prevented with proper precautions. Treatment is available for those living with the virus." He said

The NASCP National Coordinator warned against the spread of misinformation and therefore called for the dissemination of the clarification from the NASCP in order to keep the communities informed and safe
