Tinubu's Government Has Zero Tolerance For Bullying...... Dr. Marufu Adetunji Alausa. Unveils Plans For 2025 Commonwealth Day

Nigeria's Minister of Education, Dr. Marufu Adetunji Alausa, has reiterated the Federal Government's determination to tackle the issue of bullying in Nigerian schools.

The Minister who spoke during the unveiling of series of activities lined up to mark the 2025 Commonwealth Day, said bullying contains many parts, the perpetrator of the bullying, the person that is been bullied, and other people that are watching the bullying, either passively or actively reporting the bulling.

According to Dr Alausa, "Bullying happens in every society in the world and it happens in various ways; physical bullying, mental torture, and emotional bullying. We are human beings; bullying cannot be totally eliminated from the society.

"But the position of this government is that we have zero tolerance for bullying and that is why we have taken proactive steps to confront bullying.

"For the first time, the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Federal Ministry of Education, we now have a National Policy on Bullying.

Dr. Marufu Adetunji Alausa, while briefing the press in Abuja on the lined-up programs for the Commonwealth event,  directed State Ministries of Education and the Universal Basic Education Boards to ensure that all basic and secondary schools nationwide, participate 

According to him, "This year’s theme, “Together We Thrive”,  emphasises the resilience and unity of the 56 Commonwealth nations in their commitment to peace and prosperity.

Dr Alausa disclosed that, "As part of the celebration, students from selected schools within the Federal Capital Territory  are currently participating in a dress rehearsal for a grand parade of Commonwealth national flags.

The Minister revealed that, "The ceremonial procession, featuring students in national attires representing various Commonwealth countries, aims to showcase the unity and diversity of member nation. 

This is as he emphasized that the programs line-up will bring about awareness, provide a fun learning experience for the students as well as encourage critical thinking.

"The main event is set for Monday, March 10, 2025, with Diplomats from Commonwealth member states in Abuja invited through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to witness the students’ presentations. The Minister disclosed.
