Ijaws Are Majority In Warri, IYC Western Zone declares. .... Says migrants from Western Nigeria buying arms out of frustration
"As peace loving and law abiding youths, we will not be intimidated rather, we will stand by the resolutions and decisions of our fathers and leaders concerning the INEC Ward delineation". Comrade Nicholas Igarama.
"Let us therefore draw strength from these bold actions and start building the needed momentum that will see us through the freedom we seek as Ijaw people."
The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC Western Zone today declared that the Ijaws are undisputedly the majority in Warri Federal Constituency, saying migrants from Western Nigeria are buying arms out of frustration claiming they are majority in the same Warri.
IYC Western Zone Chairman, Comrade Nicholas Igarama made the declaration at the 57th Maj. Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro Day's celebration held at the Chief Tunde Smooth playground in Warri, Delta State.
According to Comrade Igarama, "Some migrants from western Nigeria now claim that they are the majority whereas the INEC Ward Delineation process that was carried out has shown the world the reality of people who embody the majority status in Warri Federal Constituency."
The IYC Western Zone also pointed out that, "Because of outright frustration they are now buying arms and security agencies are napping (arresting) them".
"Today, as Chairman of IYC Western Zone, I want to unequivocally state that the Ijaws are of the majority in Warri Federal Constituency and we are a fearless breed of people who will not be intimidated by any mortal man, because Boro feared no man, not even the government.
"So, as peace loving and law abiding youths, we will not be intimidated rather, we will stand by the resolutions and decisions of our fathers and leaders concerning the INEC Ward Delineation."
The IYC Western Zone reminded the Ijaw people that they are far behind the expectation of their pathfinder, Adaka Boro."
According to the IYC Western Zone, "Boro started agitation when he was probably 24 years old. He declared the Niger Delta Republic when he was 27 years old and was later murdered when he was 29 years old.
"Let us therefore draw strength from these bold actions and start building the needed momentum that will see us through the freedom we seek as Ijaw people.
"Let me use this medium to call on the Government and relevant agencies such as NDDC, DESOPADEC, EDSOPADEC, ONSOPADEC of Delta, Edo and Ondo States, that the development of the Ijaw areas should not be politicised and as such, we shall resist by any means necessary. We still have the lingering Abari Bridge, Patani-Kumbo-Udofori road, Gbarigolo Bridge, Ayakoromo Bridge, Ogulagha-Odimodi road in Delta State, Udo-Ofunama Road, Gele-Gele Road and Seaport Project. The Okomu Oil Palm Company not carrying out her Corporate Socio Responsibilities (CSR), in Edo State; construction of Igbotu-Sabomi-Irele Road, Encroachments of Igbobini and Sabomi lands by their Ikale-Yoruba neighbours Ondo State, completion of the Agadagba-obon to Arogbo Bridge."
