Iduh Amadhe Urges Isoko Nation to Place Trust in Oborevwori

..... Says, "Governor Oborevwori will not neglect their interests as an integral part of the state.

The Grand Patron of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe, has called on the people of Isoko Nation in Delta State to place unwavering trust in Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, assuring that the Governor will not neglect their interests as an integral part of the state.

 

Speaking to journalists in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, Chief Amadhe reacted to concerns over the exclusion of Isoko Nation from the N230 billion worth of projects recently approved by the State Executive Council (EXCO).

 

“There is no doubt that Governor Oborevwori’s administration means well for the Isoko people. The MORE Agenda cannot be implemented to its logical conclusion without the Isoko Nation receiving its fair share,” he said.

 

He explained that the recent approval was not an annual budget but a single EXCO decision, adding that many more such meetings would be held during the Governor’s tenure. 

“If Isoko was not accommodated in this round, it can be in the next,” he noted.

 

Chief Amadhe appealed to aggrieved persons, including those who have gone to court, to sheath their swords and allow the cultural and political leadership to resolve issues through dialogue and lobbying. 

“We must never put the cart before the horse. Where we are going is far better than where we are coming from,” he stated.

 

He emphasised the importance of unity, focus, and speaking with one voice, recalling a similar incident during former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s tenure when an alleged 1% allocation to Isoko sparked disquiet but was resolved amicably after proper consultations and clarifications.

 

According to him, there are clear signs that Governor Oborevwori has not neglected the Isoko people in his first two years in office. 

“As an in-law to the Isoko Nation, the Governor will never work against the land of origin of the First Lady, his wife and our daughter,” he assured.

 

The IDU Grand Patron expressed confidence that future project approvals will duly accommodate Isoko Nation, stressing that as a leading oil and gas producing ethnic group, they cannot be undermined.

 

On the looming flood forecast, Chief Amadhe advised residents to be proactive by harvesting their crops early and preparing to relocate to higher grounds if necessary. 

He urged the government to mobilise relevant agencies promptly to mitigate the impact of the perennial flooding.
