EKSU Alumni, FCT Holds General Meeting, Fetes Immediate Past Global President.

 

"This can only encourage me to do more." Engr. Dooo Bamisaye, immediate past Global President of the Abuja, FCT chapter of the Ekiti State University Alumni Association

The Abuja, FCT chapter of the Ekiti State University Alumni Association, on Saturday 6, September 2025, held its general meeting.

The meeting, which also served as homecoming ceremony for the immediate past Global President of the alumni association, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, was the inaugural for the new exco which came into office July earlier this year.

Members of the chapter, invited guests and friends and family of Engr. Bamisaye were present to honour him. Prominent among attendees were the Global President of the Association, Ambassador Seyi Idowu who flew in from UK for the event. Others were: Ashiwaju (Dr) Oludotun Adetuberu, pioneer FCT Chairman and past Global President; Architect Olumide Bamisaye, a brother of the honouree; Are (Engr) Morenikeji Aniye, a friend of the EKSUAA, and special guest. Other invited guests include Barrister Yemi Ayodele Ayeni; Barrister Ayodele Akinmulewo; and Barrister Banji Dada.

Other dignitaries present were the immediate past Chairman of FCT chapter, Honourable Olakunle Oleshin and his wife. Otunba Olumide Adebayo, member of EKSUAA Eminent Personalities, and Engr. Oladimeji.

Guests and members of the association were full of praises for Engr. Dipo Bamisaye, extolling his virtues. 

The Global President, Ambassador Seyi Idowu thanked the former Global President "for being a light, a guide, and a pride to many of us." He stated further that Engr. Bamisaye had been a pillar of support for him even as he extolled him for his effortless contributions to the growth of the association and the development of their Alma Mater. He added that the immediate past President went far in solving the problem of transcript processing for old alumni. 

In the same vein, Ashiwaju Adetuberu described Engr. Dipo Bamisaye as a good man and personification of humility. He stated that the former president was always ready to help members of the Association. He listed the honouree's achievement in office to include building of the Alumni Village, helping a member involved in accident with a million naira and helping more than 80% of members at various times.

The immediate past Global President,  Engr. Dipo Bamisaye while accepting the Award of Excellence bestowed on him by the FCT chapter, thanked his colleagues in the former exco and all those who supported him in office. "This can only encourage me to do more."  

The past President opined that "Alumni Association is actually for networking for self-reliance so that we can give back to our Alma Mater and the larger community. I will keep supporting Abuja chapter." He promised.

An Award of Excellence was also presented to the current Global President, Ambassador Seyi Idowu. Others who received award in the occasion are immediate past exco members of the chapter led by Honourable Olakunle Oleshin. 

Accepting the award, Ambassador Seyi Idowu said the award to him "is to trigger better performance."  He revealed that his administration had further worked on solving the issue of transcript processing, created a website for the Association, laid the foundation for the Leadership Centre at the Alumni Village and was working on digitizing the Alma Mater operations.

Speakers after speakers attested to the leadership qualities of Ambassador Seyi Idowu. FCT chapter Chairman, Barrister Ademola Adeleye particularly praised him for his achievement in the short time in office while Ashiwaju Adetuberu said he was not disappointed by the President's performance.

FCT chapter chairman sets up fund for health insurance for members, institutes best students' awards.

Chief host of the event and chairman of the FCT chapter of EKSUAA, Barrister Ademola Adeleye in his welcome address, revealed that he had set up a Fund to enroll members of the chapter who were not already enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme. He disclosed that he had personally donated one million naira to the Fund while Engr. Dipo Bamisaye and his friend, Engr. Olumide Abegunde also donated a million naira each. At the event, a former chapter Vice Chairman, Segun Obayendo, announced a donation of another one million naira to the cause.

Likewise, Barrister Adeleye announced the institution of awards to best graduating students from various departments of the Alma Mater. He said he had made a personal donation of five hundred thousand naira to be shared equally by the best graduating students from departments of Law and Philosophy at the commencement of the award next year.

Adeleye promised to run an inclusive chapter and to align with the SEED vision of the Global President.
