Goronyo Attends NOBA AGM, Reaffirms Commitment to Nagarta College and National Infrastructure Development

The Old Boys Association of Nagarta College, Sokoto on Sunday held its Annual General Meeting, AGM in Sokoto state.


In attendance was the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq., an alumnus of the institution and a Grand Patron of the association.


Barr Goronyo, in his address at the AGM, expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to reconnect with his former classmates and fellow alumni, describing the gathering as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the growth and development of Nagarta College.


The Minister thanked Almighty Allah for the privilege of witnessing the occasion and recalled the significant role Nagarta College played in shaping his character, values, and leadership journey, which culminated in his current position as Minister of State for Works under the administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.


He noted that as an old boy of the institution, he carries the spirit and values of Nagarta College into his national assignment of transforming Nigeria’s road infrastructure.


The Honourable Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Works remains fully committed to driving the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a focus on delivering quality road networks that promote national unity, economic growth, and sustainable development.


Goronyo reaffirmed his dedication to national development through the execution of critical infrastructure projects, and pledged to continue supporting the school and similar institutions in all possible ways.


Bello Muhammad Goronyo further placed it on record that during his tenure as Minister of Water Resources, he facilitated the provision of over 100 solar-powered boreholes across various communities and institutions, with Nagarta College among the beneficiaries.


He added that several massive infrastructure projects are currently ongoing across the country under the leadership and intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.


The Honourable Minister also commended the Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, for the visible infrastructural improvements within the school, particularly in road construction, renovation of buildings, and environmental enhancement, noting that these efforts underscore the state government’s commitment to advancing education in Sokoto State.


Following the AGM, Goronyo toured the school facilities, including classrooms and students’ hostels, and visited his former hostel, where he reminisced about his days as a student.


As part of his support for the institution, the Honourable Minister announced a donation of ₦2.5 million to NOBA to aid the development of Nagarta College, in addition to other ongoing support initiatives.


He concluded by offering prayers for continued peace, progress, and development of Nagarta College, Sokoto State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
