In a move to strengthen collaboration, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Wednesday, 18 February 2026 received a delegation from the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission (OYSERC).

The visit aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening regulatory coordination in the evolving electricity market framework.

The OYSERC delegation was led by its Ag. Chairman, Prof. Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin, who stated that the visit was to formally introduce the Commission’s acting leadership to NERC and establish a working relationship as OYSERC commences its regulatory responsibilities.

The NERC Management, led by its Chairman, Dr. Musiliu Oseni, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of strict adherence to due process in setting up the State Electricity Regulatory Commission in line with the law establishing OYSERC. He reiterated NERC’s commitment to partnering with State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs) to ensure their institutional stability, operational effectiveness, and long-term success.

In his remarks, the Ag. Chairman of OYSERC noted that the current acting members are in place to lay a solid foundation for the SERC during its transitional period pending the appointment of substantive members. He expressed appreciation to NERC for its readiness to provide technical and regulatory support, particularly around capacity development.
