NOA DG Urges Nigerian Children to Embrace Patriotism, Discipline

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu has charged Nigerian children to embrace patriotism, discipline, hard work and moral values as the country marked the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

In a statement commemorating the annual event, the NOA boss described children as the “hope, strength and future” of Nigeria, stressing that the nation’s progress depends largely on the quality of education, values and opportunities made available to them.

The Director-General noted that Children’s Day serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility of government, parents, teachers, religious bodies and the wider society in protecting the rights and welfare of every Nigerian child.

According to Issa-Onilu, every child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, security and a conducive environment that would enable them to grow into responsible citizens and future leaders.

He urged children across the country to shun negative social influences such as crime, drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime and violence, while encouraging them to uphold integrity, creativity, national unity and diligence in their daily lives.

The NOA Boss, in a statement issued and signed by Paul Odenyi Deputy Director Communications and Media, further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting civic responsibility, national consciousness and responsible citizenship through sustained public enlightenment campaigns in schools and communities nationwide.

The Agency also commended parents, teachers, caregivers and development partners for their continued sacrifices in nurturing children despite prevailing socio-economic challenges in the country.

The statement added that Nigerians must collectively work towards building a society where every child, regardless of background, ethnicity or religion, has the opportunity to dream, thrive and succeed.
