FG Deepens Partnership to Fast-Track Livestock Sector Reforms

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Nigeria's livestock sector through stronger collaboration with stakeholders, strategic investments and policy implementation aimed at boosting productivity, enhancing food security and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Mrs. Ijeoma Chinyere Akujobi, stated this during a high-level stakeholders' meeting with the Commercial Dairy Rangers Association (CODARAN) in Abuja.

Akujobi said the Ministry was committed to creating an enabling environment for investment, innovation and inclusive growth across the livestock value chain in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda. She commended CODARAN for partnering with the Ministry to accelerate reforms in the sector.

The meeting, attended by government officials, development partners and industry stakeholders, focused on strategies for expanding commercial dairy production and modernising Nigeria's livestock industry.

Leader of the CODARAN delegation, Alhaji M. D. Abubakar, pledged the association's readiness to work closely with the Ministry in areas including animal production, veterinary services, capacity building, investment promotion and sustainable livestock development.

Participants also explored practical measures to strengthen institutional partnerships, improve animal health, expand market access and encourage greater private sector participation through technical cooperation and knowledge sharing.

Akujobi stressed that meaningful partnerships remain critical to achieving the Ministry's mandate, adding that the Federal Government is determined to build a modern, competitive and resilient livestock sector capable of driving economic growth, improving food security and creating jobs.

She assured stakeholders that the Ministry would continue to engage relevant partners to translate discussions into concrete actions that would deliver lasting benefits to livestock farmers and the Nigerian economy.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by all parties to sustain collaboration and accelerate the implementation of livestock development programmes nationwide.
