FG Flags Off ₦178bn Kaduna Highway, Goronyo Backs Tinubu's Second-Term Bid

The Federal Government has flagged off the construction of the ₦178.12 billion Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State, reaffirming its commitment to improving road infrastructure and boosting economic development across the country.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony in Mando on Tuesday, the Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, described the 122-kilometre highway as a critical infrastructure project that would strengthen regional connectivity, improve security, facilitate trade, and stimulate economic activities along the corridor.

According to the minister, the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which places infrastructure development at the centre of economic growth and national integration.

He noted that when completed, the road would reduce travel time and transportation costs, improve access to markets, create jobs, and support security operations across Kaduna State and neighbouring communities.

Goronyo commended President Tinubu for prioritising infrastructure development, saying the administration's ongoing road projects across the country have demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.

The minister also declared his support for President Tinubu's re-election, expressing confidence that a second term would consolidate the achievements recorded in road infrastructure, economic reforms, security, and national development.

He praised the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for introducing innovative engineering solutions, particularly the use of rigid pavement technology, to ensure the construction of durable federal highways.

Goronyo equally acknowledged the support of the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani, describing the collaboration between the Federal and State Governments as crucial to the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.

He appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to cooperate with the contractor to ensure the timely completion of the project, while urging the construction firm to maintain the highest quality standards.

The minister expressed optimism that the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road would significantly improve transportation, enhance security, promote commerce and accelerate socio-economic development in Kaduna State and beyond.
