The Federal Government has commenced the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, with the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, saying the project will boost economic activities, improve connectivity and create opportunities across Oyo and Ogun states.

Goronyo stated this on Monday at the flag-off ceremony held at the Idi Ayunre axis of the road in Oyo State.

The minister said the project demonstrated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to using critical infrastructure to drive economic growth and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

He said the dualisation would improve inter-state connectivity, reduce travel time and enhance road safety, while opening up opportunities for trade, investment and employment.

“The central train of development is moving fast under our progressive banner,” Goronyo said.

He described the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode corridor as strategically important to the South-West, given its role in linking major communities and facilitating the movement of people, agricultural produce, goods and services.

According to him, the project is also in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places infrastructure development at the centre of efforts to strengthen the economy.

Goronyo commended the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for his leadership and commitment to the delivery of critical road projects across the country.

He also praised the Oyo and Ogun state governments, traditional rulers, contractors, engineers and other stakeholders for supporting the commencement of the project.

The minister assured Nigerians that the Federal Ministry of Works would continue to expand and rehabilitate the nation’s road network to facilitate economic activities, strengthen national integration and provide an enabling environment for businesses.

The project is expected to reduce congestion and travel time along the corridor, improve the movement of agricultural and commercial products and stimulate economic activities in communities along the route.

The flag-off was attended by Umahi; the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, contractors, engineers and other stakeholders.
