NSITF Reaches 85% Contribution Target Mid-Year, Faleye Pushes for Greater Impact
The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has achieved about 85 per cent of its 2026 contribution target in the first half of the year, with Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, urging regional managers to move beyond routine activities and focus on delivering measurable impact.
Faleye disclosed this at the opening of the Fund's 2026 Half-Year Management Performance Review (MPR), held simultaneously across six regional locations, describing the performance as evidence of the resilience and commitment of the Fund's workforce despite a period of major institutional transition.
He attributed the achievement to the dedication of regional and branch leadership, compliance teams and staff who sustained operations through the implementation of the Voluntary Exit Exercise.
"The first half of the year marked an important milestone in our institutional journey," Faleye said, noting that offices nationwide adapted professionally to the changes as officers assumed new responsibilities and teams reorganised without disrupting service delivery.
"That resilience deserves recognition. It reminds us that while systems, structures and technology are important, the greatest strength of any institution will always be its people," he added.
The NSITF boss stressed that the performance review was not intended to identify failures but to understand what works, address operational gaps and create an environment where every office can succeed.
Looking ahead, he outlined the Fund's priorities for the second half of the year to include deepening compliance with the Employees' Compensation Act, expanding social security coverage, improving claims administration, strengthening stakeholder engagement and accelerating digital transformation.
While emphasising the importance of technology and improved data management, Faleye maintained that lasting institutional reform depends on leadership, integrity, discipline and the willingness of staff to embrace change.
He reminded employees that the Fund's mandate goes beyond statistics, saying its ultimate responsibility is to injured workers, bereaved families and employers seeking prompt and efficient service.
"When we remember the people behind the statistics, compliance becomes more than enforcement, claims administration becomes more than a process and service delivery becomes our contribution to a more secure and productive nation," he said.
He challenged staff to ensure that by the end of the year, NSITF would not only surpass its targets but also strengthen its reputation as a modern, responsive and trusted social security institution.
Also speaking, Executive Director (Operations), Mrs. Mojisola Alli-Macaulay, challenged regional and branch managers to shift attention from activities to tangible outcomes, insisting that success should be measured by improved employer compliance, faster claims processing and increased social security coverage for Nigerian workers.
Speaking on the theme, "From Performance to Impact: Strengthening Compliance, Enhancing Service Delivery, and Expanding Social Security Coverage," she said the review was designed to move the Fund beyond routine reporting to assessing real impact.
"It is easy to become consumed by deadlines, reports and targets. This Review gives us room to ask whether our efforts are producing the desired results and whether employers and employees are experiencing better service," she said.
She identified purposeful employer engagement, stronger compliance enforcement, efficient claims administration and improved data quality supported by technology as the Fund's key operational priorities.
As part of the review, NSITF honoured 17 branches for outstanding contribution collection performance, namely Kebbi, Sokoto, Damaturu, Dutse, Trans-Amadi, Ado-Ekiti, Yenagoa, Katsina, Lekki, Port Harcourt, Ikeja, Bauchi, Mainland, Zaria, Gusau, Yola and Kano.
The Fund also recognised Victoria Island, Lagos Central and Lekki as its top three revenue-generating branches, with the trio accounting for approximately 40 per cent of total collections during the period under review.
The Regional Management Performance Review remains NSITF's strategic platform for assessing operational performance, reviewing previous resolutions and developing practical strategies to strengthen compliance with the Employees' Compensation Act while expanding social security coverage across the country.
