The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has been appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.

The appointment was approved by President Bola Tinubu as part of the constitution of the campaign council, which brings together political leaders, strategists and grassroots mobilisers ahead of the election.

Umahi, a former Deputy Governor, Governor and Senator, is expected to play a major role in promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration, particularly its infrastructure development programmes, while mobilising support for the President across the country.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Works, Mohammed Ahmed, Umahi’s experience in infrastructure development, political mobilisation and grassroots engagement would strengthen the campaign’s ability to communicate the administration’s achievements to Nigerians.

The statement said the minister’s new responsibility would focus on infrastructure advocacy, political mobilisation and nationwide sensitisation.

It added that Umahi’s extensive political network and experience in governance would be deployed to strengthen the campaign’s reach and engagement with Nigerians.

The campaign council will be headed by former Zamfara State Governor and serving Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, who was appointed Director-General.

The ministry said the council also comprised former governors, serving senators, ministers, party leaders and grassroots mobilisers, describing the composition as a broad-based team with the national reach and political capacity required for the 2027 campaign.

The appointment of Umahi comes as the APC prepares to take its campaign for the continuation of the Tinubu administration to voters across the country, with infrastructure development and the achievements of the Renewed Hope agenda expected to form a major part of its campaign message.
