FCSC Announces Dates, Centres for 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Exam

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has announced the dates and designated centres for the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Examination for eligible civil servants across Nigeria and selected foreign locations.

The examination schedule was contained in a circular dated September 8, 2026, signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa.

According to the circular, the local leg of the examination will hold from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, for candidates across the applicable grade levels.

The examination will take place in the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with centres designated in Lafia, Nasarawa State, for the North-Central zone; Kaduna for the North-West; Bauchi for the North-East; Port Harcourt for the South-South; Ibadan for the South-West; Enugu for the South-East; and Abuja for the FCT and Federal Government headquarters.

The commission urged all accredited candidates to carefully check their examination cards for their respective dates and venues, stressing that candidates must sit for the examination only at the centres indicated on their examination identification cards.

It directed candidates to report at their designated venues by 7am prompt, advising them to verify their examination details ahead of time and make adequate arrangements to arrive early.

For civil servants based outside Nigeria, the foreign leg of the examination is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The foreign examination centres are located in Ottawa, Canada; London, United Kingdom; Beijing, China; and Cairo, Egypt, according to the official timetable.

The FCSC also directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Executive Officers to ensure that all affected officers are adequately informed of the contents of the circular for strict compliance.

The commission, in a statement issued and signed by Ibraheem Zakariyya, Head, Media Public Relations, said the arrangements were part of its commitment to ensuring a transparent, orderly and credible promotion examination process within the federal civil service.
