Four (4) Vandalised TCN Towers on Afam-Elelenwo Line Rehabilitated

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced rehabilitation of four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.

The affected towers, identified as T50 to T53, were discovered vandalised on August 6, 2026, by TCN lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.

According to the company, the tower members of the four structures had been removed and carted away by vandals, necessitating rehabilitation works to restore the integrity of the transmission infrastructure.

TCN said the incident represents the fifth vandalism attack on the same transmission line in recent times, underscoring the persistent threat posed by infrastructure vandalism to the nation's electricity supply system.

The company said rehabilitation work is currently progressing, while calling on stakeholders and relevant members of the public to support efforts aimed at curbing the menace.

TCN stressed the need for collective action to protect critical transmission infrastructure, warning that continued vandalism threatens the stability and reliability of the national grid.

The company urged all stakeholders to join hands with relevant authorities in safeguarding transmission facilities and preventing further attacks on the nation's electricity infrastructure.
