With the collapse of the Reigners Bible Church in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state penultimate weekend, which claimed the lives of many of its members, including visitors, some Nigerians have since been calling on the government and its regulatory agencies to immediately institute a panel to look into the incident which has been described as one too many.

It would be recalled that many prominent personalities including the Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel was among the visitors inside the auditorium when the incident occurred but had escaped unhurt.

 

General Overseer and Founder of the of the Church, Apostle Akan Weeks has however called on his congregation which collapsed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State not to crucify him as he is still their brother despite the building collapse which several scores to their untimely deaths.

The incident, according to information available was for the ordination of the Founder as a Bishop of the Church.

Many prominent personalities who were supposed to have been in attendance have since been giving their testimonies to friends and even the media on how they had miraculously missed attendance due to fate.

One of such personalities is Nollywood diva, Ini Edo told of how she was held up in traffic which delayed her arrival leading to her not being inside the auditorium when the structure collapsed.

Apostle Weeks, in his appeal to his congregants stated that; “please, this is not the time to crucify me. I am still your brother, Reigners Church family. I am still your pastor. The enthronement was cancelled completely and I am not interested”.

“Please let us rise and pray. I really sympathize with the departed soul. Once I am out of my hospital bed, I will come on air and we will pray together”, Akan Weeks said.

It is interesting to state here that this statement by Apostle Weeks will put to rest, allegations of insensitivity on the part of the Apostle, by some segments of the media that despite the calamity that had befallen the Reigners Bible Church, he had gone ahead with the Ordination at another venue.
