It is barely two weeks since the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC lost three of its members in Bayelsa, Kano and Zamfara states who were participating in the scheme in their various orientation camps.

On Monday, another scare was experienced in Osun state when a Corps member reportedly slumped but, was rushed to a nearby hospital where medics were able to resuscitate her and danger averted.

This occurred in the Ede orientation camp while the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was addressing the NYSC members.

The Ooni, had while mourning the three corps members who had died in the various camps which included an indigene of Ila Orangun of Osun state, Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo, who died in Kano orientation camp in late November, prayed for the bereaved families. He urged corps members to be their brothers’ keepers by relating well with one another.

Speaking also at the event, the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal encouraged the youths on the need to embrace Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneur Development.

Not long into the address of the Timi of Ede, an ailing corps member who according to a colleague, who was visibly exhausted, slumped and had to be rushed to the clinic.

NYSC officials who had rushed the sick corps member to the clinic however came back with good news as she was promptly treated and discharged from the clinic.

The Ooni, in his address to the NYSC members, disclosed that his daughter was one of the corps members deployed in Abuja, while also expressing his happiness of being in the midst of the youths.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi urged them to focus on their dreams and rely on God for guidance.

“I made up my mind that I would be an entrepreneur. I was selling rice and sugar”.

“At the age of 19, I fathered a child, which made the matter more complicated. Life was very tough because I had to cater for my child; but that made me to work harder”.

“Today, I am very proud to say that she is one of the corps members in the present batch in Abuja now. That experience shaped by life and made me to keep striving”.

“I started going to Benue to bring yam tubers, which I turned to yam powder. I want to encourage you today, whatever you are selling or doing, do it with zeal”, the paramount ruler said.

“I met Aliko Dangote and Dr. Deji Adeleke and other successful people right inside the market where I was selling foodstuff. I used my background to redefine the way I was selling the stuff”, he stated.

The Ooni further advised the corps members not to be disappointed in Nigeria and the leadership of the country but, to join hands to work together for the development of the nation.

The NYSC Coordinator in Osun State, Mrs. Regina Iluebbey in her address, said the NYSC devised SAED programme in order to address the problem of youth unemployment.

She urged the corps members to put what they had learnt into practice even after their orientation programme.
