MODULAR REFINERIES; Best Way Out Of Products Scarcity, Okowa Tells FG, Investors
Delta state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has
advised the Federal government and members of the private sector on ways that
would address the issues of incessant scarcity of petroleum products in the
country.
Senator Okowa, while lamenting the frequent scarcity and the
daily increasing prices of the products, urged for an urgent action that needed
to be taken in ensuring the regularity in the supply and appropriate pricing of
petroleum products in order to bring about an end to the sufferings of Nigerians.
“We would rather have a modular refinery to be established
here in Delta state than have it in any other place, after all, we produce the
crude, the transportation of the crude to the refinery will no longer be an
issue for investors”.
Governor Okowa stated this during the commissioning of an
ultra-modern filling station owned by North-West Petroleum and Gas Company
Limited in Asaba during the week.
According to the Governor, “Delta state is a peaceful place
for any investor to come and invest”.
“I think that even if other refineries are already
established elsewhere, I know that it will not be the last that you will
establish, so please put Delta state into your considerations as you move
forward because I truly think in that direction that, if we have a proper
direction in our country, the modular refinery is the best way to go now and the
more we have it in various areas, particularly where oil is being produced, the
better it will be for our nation”, Okowa stated.
