OSINBAJO COMMITTEE; OUTRIGHLY NEEDLESS, A WASTE, Says Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki

Nigerians have continued to react to the suspension of David Babachir Lawal from office as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Babachir, who has been having a running battle with the Senate over issues bordering on allegations of financial misappropriations and several others allegations, was axed and directed to hand over to the most senior Permanent Secretary in his office.

Speaking on the issue of the suspension of the SGF and the DG in charge of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Amb. Ayodele Oke and the setting up of a Committee chaired by the Vice President to investigate the allegations, Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki said
, "in as much as the long expected suspension of Babachir David Lawal was a step in the right direction, the setting up of another committee to investigate him after the thorough investigation done by the Comrade Shehu Sani led committee of the Senate was out rightly needless, a waste of time and diversionary".


In a statement he personally signed, Comrade Danjuma says "the President should direct the EFCC to do the needful. More so, having Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Justice, who earlier gave him a clean bill, in the committee makes mockery of the whole committee".

"This is a clear case of using deodorant to fight corruption", Danjuma stated.

In a similar development, Abubakar Umar, a retired army officer and close associate of the President, was visibly miffed with the manner the President has been handling the affairs of the country whereby, Nigerians daily contend with hunger.

According to Umar, he expressed his fears with Osinbajo committee as it is another way by government to sweep such matters under the carpet.

Just like Comrade Danjuma, the retired army Major wondered about the rationale behind the Osinbajo Committee when Shehu Sani, a Senator had already submitted an earlier report from a Committee that had investigated and indicted the SGF.
