PDP CRISIS: GO FORM ANOTHER PARTY; Maidugu Tells Makarfi, Others
The unending crises in the People's Democratic Party, PDP seems not to be having a solution as all parties involved and their supporters are up for a make or mar finale.
The efforts by the BoT of the party and even attempts by the former President, Goodluck Jonathan to broker peace between the two factions; Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi ended in a statement with Sheriff, who is reportedly the authentic National Chairman, as ruled by the Court of Appeal in PortHarcourt, Rivers state, walking out on the Jonathan peace parley.
All now await the outcome of the Supreme Court.
However, the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr. Bashir Maidugu, has admonished Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi; Chairman, National Caretaker Committee and others fighting the position national chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, to
form another party.
Barrister Maidugu made his reaction known following insinuations that
since Sheriff seemed to be at
loggerheads with some top party
members, including governors, he
should leave the party and form another platform.
"Nothing like that will happen", Maidugu responded.
"He should leave the PDP when he is
the National Chairman declared by the
Court of Appeal? How can he leave the
PDP?, He queried.
"Those who do not want him should go
and form another party, we don’t have
any problem with that. We’re right now
operating from Wadata Plaza (party
National Headquarters)", he told Daily
Trust.
When asked if Sheriff really meant well for the PDP, the legal practitioner said the former Governor of Borno State
wouldn’t have accepted the Governor
Seriake Dickson’s Report if he was
working against the party.
"It is those who do not mean well for
the PDP that are trying to sabotage the
Appeal Court judgement. They are
trying to sabotage our judiciary and
think they own it".
"They went to the Supreme Court and
keep telling people that they are going
to get judgement there as if the
Supreme Court is their house boy or it
belongs to them. No, it is the Supreme
Court of Nigeria", he stated.
