CALM RETURNS TO KABALA WEST IN KADUNA; Security Operatives in Joint Patrol As Community Leaders Meet
Following Saturday's knife attack on a youth in Kabala West in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna state which resulted to the death of the young man, tension broke out Monday morning as some unidentified youths, made up of mostly miscreants, took to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Express in protest.
In what has been described as rumour, the youths attacked commuters and vehicle owners on the busy expressway with many innocent persons sustaining injuries and damage to their cars but, no life was reported lost.
Comrade Nura Usman, while speaking with NAIJ NEWS ALERT, disclosed that the report of the knife attack and subsequent death of the young man, names withheld, did not go down well with his relatives who protested his death.
However, Comrade Usman said mischief makers went about circulating the rumour that in the course of Saturday's protest, that a mosque was burnt down, an allegation he vehemently refuted.
According to Usman, "no mosque was burnt and also, no life was lost in the brief melee as being reported in some quarters".
"I drove through Kabala West and saw people in small groups, discussing while security Operatives which comprised of the Nigerian Army, MOPOL, NCDC patrolled the area".
In a brief response, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Kaduna state Governor, Mr. Samuel Aruwan assured residents that the situation is under control.
Meanwhile, Comrade Usman stated that leaders in the community were already meeting as with a view to addressing the situation and forestalling any future reoccurrence.
