"Okowa's Smart Programme in the State Have Given Recognition to every Ward in the state", Says Ono Sorhue

Chief Eddie Ono Sorhue is a foundation member of the People's Democratic Party, PDP and a member of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council.

An erudite and grassroots politician, Ono Sorhue spoke with the Emmanuel Onotevure on national issues.

Excerpts:

Sir, there is a committee being put in place to address the issue of Sheriff, his supporters and the likely need for sanctions.
Do you see the committee achieving any headway, considering the statements by the sacked Modu Sheriff?

The Caretaker Chairman, Senator Makarfi granted amnesty to Modu Sheriff and his group, yet  Modu Sheriff said he will address a press conference next week to state his position and his group.

It a pity that they are willing tools at the hands of the opposition. The leaders have persevered enough that, instead of Sheriff bragging the party, we should call a spade a spade by showing him the  exit gate.

Again, some state Excos and Chairmen of the party caretaker committees have been disbanded, especially those appointed by the Sheriff camp. How do see this move?
State Chairmen were reported to have been appointed by Sheriff in some states and that, according to investigations, caused divisions within the party in such states.

Were there caretaker committee in some states before now? Were they in south west or where?
Like which state, I know of a fact that congresses were held up to zonal levels before the Port Harcourt aborted convention though, Imo and some states in Southeast were not concluded.

Congresses were concluded before the Port Harcourt aborted convention. If he went ahead to swear chairmen when the confusion lasted, then, it was part of his game plan to wipe PDP from political map of Nigeria.

Now that the stake he raised has fallen on him, so let it be. I know, not all of them will follow him to join his pay masters or form another party, as some of his right hand men attended last Monday's meeting; his good Senator friend from Ogun state and a handful of others .

My opinion remains that, he should leave us to enable us have our peace.

Sir, is the PDP not supposed to be seeking for reconciliation in order to regain its once massive support?
Many are of the opinion that a more united PDP will be able to unseat the APC come 2019.

Makarfi offered olive leaf by saying; "no victor no vanquished" and I feel that was enough room for reconciliation which Sheriff tactfully turned down by saying that the party again has been handed over to rogues by the Supreme Court ruling.

I think he is not ready for reconciliation yet. His exit will not deplete our electoral fortunes in 2019 as electorates have seen the difference between hot and cold water.

How prepared is the PDP in Delta state to stave off the opposition in the state considering that APC seems to be gaining grounds with the electorates?

I don't know where APC is gaining its ground in Delta state, where? Is it in Delta North, South or Central.

There are series of allegations leveled against His Excellency the Governor's SMART AGENDA.

The Smart programme in the state have given recognition to every ward in the state that come 2019, it is another smooth sail for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
