SOUTH-SOUTH LEADERS EXTOL AMAECHI, SYLVA; Urges Wike to Stop Promoting Conflict

A group of prominent leaders of the South-South geo–political zone on Tuesday have described Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the Honourable Minister of Transaction as a consummate politician and one of the greatest discoveries in the political landscape of the current republic.


"Rotimi Amaechi is a man of impeccable character", the group stated.

The prominent leaders from the South-south also described Governor Nyesom Wike as a dangerous partner for peace and progress.

"The non-performance of the Rivers State governor was incontrovertible", they said.

In a statement issued after a closed-door meeting in Port-Harcourt, the leaders condemned Governor Wike for his alleged careless utterances.

In the statement, they described as mischievous the declaration by Wike that “Amaechi is jealous”.

Speaking after their meeting, the leaders praised Amaechi for leading the people well, changing the face of Rivers State, putting the infrastructure perfectly in shape, bringing primary healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of the people, showing more than passing interest in sports and taking tourism to sublime state.

"It is not about sycophancy. It is about saying the obvious", the leaders stated.

Chairperson of the South-South Political Congress (SSPC), Mrs. Ibifuro Tatua, in a statement issued and signed personally after the meeting, said the leaders commended Amaechi for the unity, stability and overall development of Rivers State.

Tatau, in her statement specifically stated that the leaders eulogized Amaechi for promoting and entrenching democratic governance, executing projects which impacted on the lives of the people, making great investment in education, providing leadership to the Governors’ Forum and strengthening relationship between all sections of the country.

"Nyesom Wike cannot match Amaechi’s contributions in Nigeria, particularly Rivers State. Amaechi’s government recorded landmark achievements in information dissemination, local government administration, women affairs, housing and environment".

"A governor who belittles his age by stooping to tale-telling and spreading the seeds of discord in the state should not be seen as a role model for the younger ones".

Similarly, the leaders described former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva as an astute politician and reputable administrator.

The South-south leaders praised him for his unassailable character, visionary leadership and selfless service to humanity.

They also acknowledged Timipre's Sylva’s role in industrializing Bayelsa State and making it an investors’ delight praised the ex-governor for putting Bayelsa State in the right footing.

The group, in a congratulatory message on Sylva’s 53rd birthday anniversary, commended Sylva for his exceptional performance and contributions to the socio-political and economic developments of Nigeria.

The leaders thanked the ex-Bayelsa governor for impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians.

While congratulating Sylva and wishing him success in his current and future endeavours, they urged him to concentrate his energy on ensuring that Bayelsa State, which unfortunately, is today at its lowest ebb largely due to poor leadership, is brought to mainstream politics.
