HERITAGE KITCHEN BOSS FREELY FEEDS FIVE HUNDRED

Whenthe leadership of a government of any nation or state begins to fail in its responsibility of providing for her citizenry, especially if the citizens have to contend with hunger, then that government has derailed in the execution of its statutory duty.

Therefore, if any citizen of such a state or nation, volunteers to; without compulsion, without asking for payment either in cash or kind and decides to provide food; quality meal at that, that individual deserves commendation as the task of feeding several hundreds on a weekly basis, is no mean feat especially in the present economic state in Nigeria where families are finding it difficult to afford two meals a day.

Heritage Kitchen, a first class rated hospitality and eatery outfit located at Plot 3, Kanta road extension, in the serene Mogadishu Layout in Kaduna metropolis, has been providing free meals on a weekly basis, for the people in that community in the past six years unaided.

A subsidiary of Wondernet Group, owned and managed by Dr. Makanjuola Akindele Owolabi and his wife, Edna, Heritage Kitchen has consistently hosted the members of Mogadishu Layout and other passersby including okada riders, car dealers, workers from adjoining malls, almajiris and even men and women driving past, all stop to eat.

Speaking with NAIJ NEWS ALERT, Mrs Edna Owolabi disclosed that it all started some several years ago when she had a farm along the Mando-Lagos highway and that she would prepare meals for her farm hands and would also share to anybody in sight.

As she puts it; "with the little God has blessed us, we deem it necessary to give back to society and if this is one way to appreciate our Heavenly Father, to Him be all glory. There is so much hunger everywhere. If people don't get food to eat, they can do anything to be able to feed and this is one reason why there is crime everywhere".

According Mrs. Edna Owolabi, "if God permits, I will continue to do this because, it is one little way of helping others".

Reverend Divine Nnaji, Resident Pastor of Wondernet Bible Ministry, Kaduna, in his brief response to the free feeding programme of the Owolabis, says that it takes one with the love of God to undertake such a gesture.

"Dr. Owolabi and his wife are God sent people with hearts of gold. Feeding five hundred persons weekly is a mighty task and considering the quality of food; we all partake in the eating, one must say it is highly commendable".

It was prayers galore as many of the beneficiaries of the free feeding exercise thanked the Owolabis for coming to their aid especially in this difficult times.

Suleiman Abdullahi, while speaking with NAIJ NEWS ALERT, commended the management of Heritage Kitchen for the kind gesture of providing their neighbours with food.

" If only other influential people in the society can copy the kindness of this people who are spending their own money to feed people freely and not expecting anything in return, the country will be a better place", Suleiman who spoke through an intrepeter said.

Another passerby who stepped in to join the queue of people said it was a blessing indeed for him as he and his two sons were headed home from their farm hungry with no idea of what to eat. Giving his name as Mansur Dantsoho, he was given more than he expected and truly, was surprised that somebody could prepare such good food and share to people. He thanked the Owolabis for this kind kindness. He prayed for God to bless their purse for such a noble deed.
