GOC 1 DIV CALLS FOR UNDERSTANDNG FROM CIVILIANS
The Civilian populace have been advised not to perceive the current military operations in parts of the country as anti people but one of the strategies in protecting them.
This was the advice of Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, General Officer Commanding, 1 Mechanized Division of the Nigeria Army, Kaduna while receiving Executives of Military, Police and Para-military Public Relations Officers Forum, MILPOPPROF, Kaduna chapter on acourtesy visit to his office.
In a press release signed by the Secretary of MILPOPPROF Kaduna state chapter, ASC Orndiir Terzungwe, on behalf of the Chief Facilitator, the outgoing GOC 1 Mechanized Division, described the perception of the civilian populace as erroneous as, the current operatins by members of theArmed Forces in parts of the country are geared towards serving the people.
According to General Oyebade, while suing orunderstanding, noted that the development in any country depends on effective security architecture which is present in Nigeria.
The outgoing GOC 1Mechanized Division enjoined members of the public to cooperate and bear with all agencies saddled with the task of providing security to discharge their statutory duties.
Urging members of all security agencies to synegize in confronting the few security challenges, General Oyebade who has been appointed as the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, warned against rivalry which is known to be inimical to national growth.
Chief Facilitator of MILPOPPROF in Kaduna State, Ogah Henry Ojilly, earlier in his remarks, explained the purpose of the visit to include promoting of collaboration among agencies, introduce state officials and get the GOC acquainted with activities of the forum.
According to Ojilly, other reasons include seek the GOC’s personal and organizational support in supporting programmes organized by MILPOPPROF like seminars for personnel of different agencies.
The Kaduna state Chapter of MILPOPPROF which has embarked on courtesy
visits to head of security agencies, was inaugurated in July this year to promote synergy among agencies.
Members of the pioneer EXCO are drawn from the Nigeria Immigration
Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTELEA).
