"JUNAID MOHAMMED'S STATEMENT AGAINST IPOB, REGRETABLE".... ONUESOKE
Chief Onosueke, in a statement issued Wednesday and made available to NAIJ NEWS ALERT, revealed his regret in knowing second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed especially as it pertains his recent statement against the Independent People of Biafra, IPOB.
In his reaction to the statement, Chief Onuesoke, a public can and social critic, said;
"I regret knowing Junaid Mohammed over the statement he made against IPOB".
"It’s unfortunate that a man of his status, whom I respected so much, could use such a statement against a group of people fighting for their right".
"Such a divisive statement should not have emanated from a man who calls himself an elder statesman", Onosueke stated.
According to the PDP chieftain, "in times like this, when our nation is going through hard times, statements like this will only result in heating up the polity and creating room for disunity.
Onosueke in his statement had alluded that "Junaid Mohammed, in his statement compelled "the Independent People of Biafra" (IPOB) to start a civil war, calling them "bastards" if they fail to do so".
The statement which, according to Onosueke was allegedly made by Junaid Mohammed some days ago, has generated so much criticism from Nigerians, with some describing it as a hate speech.
Chief Sunny Onosueke while still reacting to the statement made by the elder statesman, argued that, at the current state of the nation, we do not need statements that will promote the emblem of war, saying that, acts like this will only endanger our unity and coexistence as a united people.
"It will bring to null years of sacrifices as well as much efforts and struggles that have been given by patriotic Nigerians to keep us united", Onosueke further stated.
The Delta state PDP chieftain further noted that, "the unity and peace of this nation must remain a priority to all and I strongly kick against anyone or thing, whatsoever that will jeopardize the continued peaceful coexistence and strengthening of Nigeria".
"As a people, we must seek the unity of this nation by all means. We must direct all our arsenals as a nation to maintaining peace and unity, only then can we progress as a new", he emphasized.
"I strongly advise the likes of Junaid Mohammed to exercise caution in making statements of national importance, as most statements like this often comes with devastating cost that are far beyond expectations or intentions", he stressed.
Calling on Nigerians to shun any acts of violence or statements that tend to divide the nation along ethnic and religious lines, Chief Sunny Onosueke stated that, "we are stronger together as a people and weaker when divided".
"Nigerians have to be vigilant and ignore statements of war made by any person irrespective of their status or position", he urged.
