WORLD TEACHERS DAY: Kaduna Teachers Wear Black Hand Bands

Teachers in Kaduna state have celebrated the World Teachers Day in a very low key fashion.

Following what they described as anti-teachers policy in the state, wore black hand bands at the event even as the Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai said that the state government has allocated thirty five per cent of its budget to the education sector.



Governor el-Rufai, who was represented at the marking of the "2017 Teachers Day" by the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Andrew Nok disclosed that the state government has also built and renovated public schools in the state with befitting classrooms and equipped with standard furniture.

The state chairman of the union, Titus Amba in his address, said that the Black Hand band they wore to the event, was to express their unhappiness to the el-Rufai-led administration in the state.

This year’s world Teachers day celebration in Kaduna started with a solidarity Song, which they all keyed into.

The teachers who came from across the 23 local government areas of the state to celebrate the World Teachers Day, converged on the Kaduna Teachers House to celebrate their day, started with a solidarity song which they all sang together.

The theme of this year’s world Teachers day is “Teaching in Freedom; Empowering Teachers.
