Gunmen Strike Again In Southern Kaduna; Abduct Matthew Kukah's Brother

Again, unidentified armed gunmen have struck in Southern Kaduna and reportedly, abducted the paramount ruler of Ikulu Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.



The kidnapped traditional ruler has been identified as His Royal Highness, Yohanna Kukah.

Confirming the report, Police Public Relations Officer,  PPRO in Kaduna state, Mr. Mukhtar Aliyu said the kidnapped traditional ruler was abducted in his palace at about 9:00pm alongside his guard on Tuesday.

It will be recalled that gunmen had, less than two days back, another traditional ruler and his wife were killed by yet to be identified gunmen at a village in Sanga Local Government Area of the state.

However, the state PPRO stated that a team of police operatives from the Command and soldiers attached to the Operation Safe Haven has been deployed to the area.

The police spokesman has asked the people of the community not to panic and was hopeful that the team would track down the kidnappers as well as rescue the monarch and his aide.

The traditional ruler according to reports, is said to be a younger brother of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Matthew Kukah.
