Buhari Nominates New CBN Deputy Governor

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has, in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 (1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, nominated Edward Lametek Adamu to the Senate of the National Assembly of the Federation, for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the CBN.



The nomination of Edward Lametek Adamu as Deputy Governor designate, was contained in a letter dated January 26, 2018 to the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, by President Buhari.

Edward Adamu who hails from Gombe State, replaces Sulaiman Barau, from Zaria, Kaduna State.

The Deputy Governor nominee, who has spent 25 years in the CBN, was appointed in 2012 as Director of Strategy.

Adamu eventually rose to become Director, Human Resources in 2016, from where he was nominated as Deputy Governor.

The nomination of Adamu has been applauded by insiders as it encourages patriotism and genuine service to fatherland and also, boost the morale if staff who see their future in their respective fields of endeavours in the Civil Service.
