  • Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibrahim Idris.
The statement had revealed that, "on February 13, hunters from Birani Village of Zurmi Local Government Area intercepted and accosted a herder in the bush with some suspected stolen cattle and sheep".
CSP Moshood however, assured the state that the Command’s Intelligence Unit had already embarked on investigation to arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
He also stated that, the arrested suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
Concerned Nigerians have continued to berate the security agencies for not been proactive to the issues of insecurity which have assumed a worrisome dimension these past weeks.
It will be recalled that the Zamfara state Governor, Abdullaziz Yari had, during his visit with some other governors to condole with the Emir of Zurmi, disclosed that security reports had indicated of an impending attack and this information was passed to the security agencies. Sadly, no response was made to put in place, adequate provisions to quell the attack.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Zurmi, Atiku Abubakar commended the local vigilante in the village who put up a fierce defense to protect their people against the well armed attackers.
