DR. MATOH DOGARA |
With the 2019 general elections fast approaching, politicians in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP have began warming up for a super contest to oust the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC out of office and return to power.
Our correspondent recently met with a PDP chieftain who was also a former Presiding Officer, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Matoh Dogara.
“PDP”, according to him, “is the only political party in Nigeria that gives power directly to the people and that is exactly what the PDP stands for, we will never compromise”.
Dogara noted that, as members and stakeholders, “we are so interested in bringing the party back to power and of course, going down to the grassroots is necessary”, he stated.
According to the former Deputy Speaker, “the youths also, will play an important role to that effect”.
The PDP as a Party, believes that active and responsible youths be given more space to aspire for public office and we will not compromise that either, Dogara revealed.
“This follows the decision by some of us in Kaduna to give way for younger aspirants; we are definitely going the right way”, he further stated.
Continuing, Dogara said; “personally, on my own side, having been Local Government Chairman, Secretary, Special Adviser, Commissioner, Member State House of Assembly, I should give others in my constituency, a sense of belonging within the PDP”.
“The system needs a lot of fresh ideas with regards to governance in some parts of the local and state level. On this, I believe we are on the right part to progress”, he concluded.
