BREAKING: EFCC DETAINS RAMALAN YERO, 3 OTHERS OVER ALLEGED #750M CAMPAIGN FUNDS; TO APPEAR IN COURT

Immediate past Governor of Kaduna state, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, has been detained by the anti-corruption Agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at its Zonal office in Kaduna.

Ramalan Yero, who was detained alongside a former Kaduna Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Haruna Gaiya; a former Minister of State for Power, Nuhu Wya; and former Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Hamza Ishaq, had been under investigation by the EFCC since his ouster from office, in 2016 for the role they played in the disbursement of the N750 million PDP campaign funds before the 2015 general election.

It would be recalled the now detained four, have been reporting at the EFCC office for quite some time, in line with the procedure for their investigation.

However, the story had a new twist on Wednesday when they were detained as they reported at the commission’s zonal office.

Spokesman of the EFCC Zonal office, Kaduna, Kamaludeen Gebi said that the four accused persons would be arraigned at a Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on Thursday on charges bordering on money laundering, criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds among others.

It would also be recalled the Yero, alongside the three others had reported to the anti-graft office penultimate Friday with hundreds of their supporters turning out to protest the perceived harassment   of their leaders.

They were however, later released after they had been interrogated for several hours.
