ADEOSUN'S NYSC CERTIFICATE SAGA: ONUESOKE RAPS BUHARI, APC

Following the expose of the former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun in a case of forgery of her NYSC Exemption Certificate, many nigerians had expected the President, Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to uphold its stand on integrity and uprightness.

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has condemned the stand of the Federal Government, including President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC while the controversies trailing the forged National Youth Service Corps NYSC of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun lasted.

Onuesoke who spoke to newsmen at Abuja yesterday on hearing of Buhari’s acceptance of Adeosun’s resignation letter, accused Buhari of failingy integrity test hence, he would have suspended the Minister whilst expediting investigation.

"A President that has been preaching against corruption would not have waited a minute before asking her to step aside, whether he believes the allegation was true or not", Onuesoke stated.

"Rather, officials of Buhari’s government kept quiet for a while. When they finally responded, they alluded to the fact that, Adeosun would not be prosecuted for forging a NYSC Exemption Certificate because, she is ‘damned good at her job’ and because ‘forgery is not corruption".

"To worsen it, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Prof. Itse Sagay, SAN who has been accusing members of the opposition of corruption, shied away from his responsibility by saying; sacking Adeosun for certificate forgery is not an option".

According to the SAN, "Adeosun is a great asset to the country and letting her go because she doesn’t have an NYSC certificate isn’t that serious".

He also stated that, he (Sagay) "doesn’t believe Adeosun will fake an Exemption Certificate".

Describing APC'S claims of fighting corruption as political propaganda and lies, the PDP Chieftain argued that, if Adeosun were to be a Minister under the PDP administration, the likes of Lai Mohammed would have manufactured a jaw breaking adjective to qualify her offence.

He accused the APC led administration for having not prosecuted any of its ally for any wrong doing but, focuses on its political opponents, adding that, this shows Nigeria has not yet reached Uhuru but needs to support the strengthening of its institutions to function on their own without waiting for 'order from above', Onuesoke said.

H, however, commended Adeosun for having resigned honourably, just as he wished her luck in her next endeavor.

"If she was from a certain part of the country, I bet you, she/he would never have voluntarily resigned. Sit tight in the position and anything been said goes through one ear and out the other", he stated.
