Delta State: AGBARHO RESIDENTS HAIL OKOWA OVER PROACTIVE MEASURES TO COMBAT FLOOD

Residents of Agbarho and it's environs can now heave a sigh of relief from the ravaging flood that took the community last week,  as the Ministry of Environment has commenced opening of canals in the community.



According to reports, the Commissions for Environment, Honourable John Nani was on ground to supervise the exercise with the team of consultants.

Following the massive flood experienced in Agbarho and it's environs last week, the Ministry of Environment mobilised it's men and heavy equipment to open the Oviri canal under the supervision of its Commissioner, Hon John Nani.

Speaking to newsmen, HON Nani said the opening of the blocked Oviri canal is a temporary measure to ameliorate the plight of residents.

He noted that with the opening of the Canal,  it will ease the flow of water which will make the flood to receed.

Hon. Nani said,  as soon as the flood receeds,  they will take a permanent step that will solve the flooding problem of the area.

The Consultant of the Ministry Mr Augustine Onohworemu said the State Government has fully mobilised them and they are working tooth and nail to make Agbarho flood free.

Some residents of Agbarho commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Environment, HON John Nani for their efforts in solving the perennial flooding problem in Agbarho.

The opening of blocked drains and canals across the state especially in Agbarho town continues.
