Comrade Yerima |
Comrade Shettima Yerima, leader of the Northern Youths Coalition has charged Nigerians to make a choice between their present condition or make a change in their lives.
Yerima made this assertion on Monday while speaking exclusively with Naij News Alert while responding to questions as to the visit of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS to the Presidency recently.
Describing the NANS visit to the Villa and their subsequent endorsement of Muhammadu Buhari as unfortunate, Shettima disclosed that the country presently has a group of youths that are supposed to be worried about their generation and look at this as a challenge but are being carried away.
According to Yerima, "no nation survives with such kind of neglect that our educational sector has been subjected to and to an extent, one would have expected that the students union to be more proactive and not become counterproductive".
Tasked on the increasing level of insecurity across the country even with the Presidential elections less than 40 days away, Shettima, who is also the leader of the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF expressed his concerns over the insecurity situation which is at an alarming level describing it as a failure on the part of government.
"Any responsible government that is unable to provide security for its citizenry and their properties, in developed nations, either deliberately or unconsciously ought to resign".
"Unfortunately, in the case of Nigeria, the reverse is the case. Rather than getting worried, it becomes an issue to celebrate. This is how lives become so meaningless in our country, Nigeria", he stated.
"This is not a good time for the country as it is really sick and, I think we should really have to wake up and look at the challenges properly. We should put our hands together and save this country. This country must come first", Yerima said.
"Even the home state has, according to the State Governor, is under siege not to talk of Zamfara state which is now a war zone. The country is sick", Comrade Yerima Shettima lamented
