The Chairman Kaduna and District society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Mr Dalhatu Abdulazeez has said that the association had so far trained over 800 chartered accountant in conjunction with the New Nigeria Development Company Limited (NNDC) in Kaduna state alone in the past two years.
He made the revelation during the orientation and induction of over 100 students into Special Students Learning Program of the present diet of the association in Kaduna last Saturday at the Musa Bello Learning Resource Centre,(NNDCL) in Kaduna.
Mr. Abdulazeez who charged the students to be upright in their studies also stated that similar programs are ongoing in some northern state of the federation so that they can build capacity of most accountants.
“Before now we have very limited number of Chartered Accountants in the north but with present scheme, the number had been significantly boosted. Before now, only a handful of northerners had qualified as Chartered Accountants”, he said.
He added that formation of the centre in conjunction with the NNDCL had yielded immense benefit as it has helped a lot of people get qualified as Chartered Accountants in the north which has increased the number of trained professionals in the accounting sector.
He further said that various students of the training are either working or attached to some firms which has made the payment of tuition and other ancillaries during lectures and examination affordable hence the large number of participants in the diet.
“I am aware that the NNDC set criteria that will make you to be sponsored and some are being sponsored 100% by the NNDC, not only that at the end of each month they are being paid stipend and some will augment what the NNDC is paying them”, he concluded.
