The Cross River state Governor, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade, has assured that his administration will continue to protect the interest of children and youths of the State.

Governor Ayade, who disclosed this at the occasion of the Children's Day celebration held at the UJ Esuene stadium, Calabar on Monday, 27th May 2019, stated that the state government will continue place high premium on projects and and programmes that will impact positively on their lives now and in the future.

Ayade, who was represented at the children's day celebration by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, explained that the government of Cross River State is committed to ensuring that our children and the young people of the state have brighter future as the the leaders of tomorrow.

He disclosed that the State Government is doing this through the provision of qualitative education and also providing access to quality Healthcare for the children, youths, women and the aged, and that the Ayadecare programme is one of the programmes targeted at the interest of the younger generations and Cross Riverians as a whole.

The governor therefore charged them to completely stay away from drug abuse, cult and cult related activities, stressing that the future is brighter and the sky will be the limit of any child and youth who stay away from all social vices.

Ayade also charged parents to spend more time with their children to be able to monitor their academic as well as their social activities, the type of persons they go out with and the friends they keep so they could help the society to mould the future generations in the fear and admonition of God.

In her speech, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Stella Odey said that the state government under the leadership of Senator Ben Ayade is fully committed to providing brighter future for the leaders of tomorrow in the state.

She disclosed that the Ayade's administration is equally committed towards ensuring that the Girl Child is not vulnerable to abuse of any kind from the bad eggs of the society, stressing that her office which is saddled with the responsibility over women and the girl child is willing to do anything without the ambit of the law to protect the interest of the girl child and women in particular and children in general.

Odey, charged the children to stay away completely from drifstand drugs related issues in line with this year's theme, and to work to realise the ambition of becoming tomorrow's leaders by shuning all forms of social vices and friends that will lead them to their doom.

Highlights of the ceremony was the taking of salute by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Esu as the children and various uniform organizations marched passed.
