BISALLA BOWS OUT OF SERVICE, URGES SUCCESSOR TO PRIORITISE VISITS TO NIGER DELTA

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Aminu Aliyu Bisalla has retired from the Federal Civil Service at the mandatory age of 60 on Tuesday.

Calling for more efforts to develop the Niger Delta region, Bisalla while speaking at a valedictory session organised in his honour in Abuja, urged his successor and the leadership of the Ministry to make regular visits to the Niger Delta region a priority, in order to have a first hand information on the challenges confronting the people of the oil rich region in a bid to tackle them.

"I implore my successor to enhance and pursue regular visits to the states in the Niger Delta region to see the people in real sense, the challenges that exist and to have a feel of what the realities are so as to strive towards the actualization of the mandate of the Ministry to make the region a better place", Bisalla stressed.

He called for more initiatives from all stakeholders to improve the environment and the lives of the people of the oil rich Niger Delta region.

Alhaji Bisalla thanked the past leadership of the Ministry, most especially the immediate former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani and the former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Prof. Claudius Omoleye Daramola who gave him a free hand to operate as Permanent Secretary, saying the gestures had impacted positively on the staff of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Niger Delta region in particular.

Bisalla was commended by  the staff of the Ministry for his humility, commitment to staff welfare and openness in piloting the affairs of the Ministry.

Mr. Bisalla assumed duties in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in January, 2018 and exited on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2019 at the mandatory age of 60 years.

In her closing remarks at the event, the Director Community Development and Education in the Ministry who will also be overseeing the office of the Permanent Secretary for now, charged staff of the Ministry to emulate the virtues of Aminu Bisalla, adding that is was through such commitment that they could help in fast-tracking the development of the Niger Delta region.
