CALABAR CENTRAL PARK: DOPT TAKES CHINESE ENGINEERS TO COMMENCE WORK AT SITE
As part of his promise to construct a Central Park in Calabar, the Cross River state Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade has fulfilled that promise today, following commencement of work by Chinese engineers on the site.
The governor who inspected the site and gave his approval three weeks ago, construction has now begun which is testament of his commitment to the development of infrastructure in the state and improvement on the welfare of the people.
The park which is located at Picolo junction, will be equipped with modern facilities and security gadgets like guest houses, shopping arcades, close circuit television among others.
The performance and vision of the Director General of DOPT Comrade Godwin Nyiam in initiating this project and other efforts in improving the traffic situation, are commendable.
This shows that he cannot be deterred in bringing changes to the effective functioning of the department.
The park, according to available information, will no doubt assist in reducing traffic congestion in the city as most visitors who bring in goods would remain at the outskirts.
