OKOWA APPROVES IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF STIPENDS TO WIDOWS

The Smart Agenda Governor, Sen. Arthur Okowa of Delta state is again, living up to his promises of providing sustainable dividends of democracy to the citizenry in the state, especially indigents and the widowed.
 

In pursuance of actualizing his electoral promises, the Smart Agenda Governor has approved for payment, three months stipends for the selected widows enrolled in the Delta State social investment programmes of the delta state government.

According to the itinerary released to this effect through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on social investment programmes, Chief Isioma Okonta, the payment of the stipends to the selected widows will kick off on Monday, the 26th of August through Thursday, 29th August 2019 across the 25 local government areas of Delta state.

It would be recalled that in 2015, on his assumption of office, Gov. Okowa, as an integral part of his administration's Smart Agenda aimed at alleviating poverty, had initiated payment of monthly stipends to some selected widows in delta state.

 
The widows concerned have been requested to turn out for this event in their various local governments for verification and immediate payment of the approved stipends.

Stakeholders have commended the state governor for focusing on widows who have become vulnerable due to the harsh economic situation in the country especially with the insecurity challenges that has made many unable to go to their farms where they could eke legitimate incomes from sale of their farm produce.

According to Mrs. Ogbotor, “we pray to God for more leaders like this our governor to continue so that widows would have a life even after the demise of their husbands”.
