ATTACK ON AMAECHI IN SPAIN: Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths Apologize Over Purported IPOB Attack.

Following the purported attack on the former Rivers State Governor, Chibuke Rotimi Amaechi who is currently the minister of Transport by suspected members of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB in Madrid, Spain recently, reactions have continued to pour in, from concerned stakeholders.

Joining its voice to the torrents of condemnations is the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, a socio-cultural body from the Southeastern part of Nigeria.

The group, in a statement issued and signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, President General and Secretary General respectively of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide “condemned, vehemently, the purported assault meted on our son in error which occurred during the Conference on Climate change in Madrid Spain recently”.

The group, in the statement, described the attack on the Honourable Minister for Transport, “as an act of misplaced anger as he remains our leader and illustrious son and therefore, apologizes to him on behalf of those who have claimed responsibility for the purported failed assault”.

The group therefore, promised the former Rivers state governor and other Igbo leaders that, “Igbo youths now guarantee the safety all Government officials and dignitaries in the future while discharging their official duties abroad”.

In its statement, it revealed that; “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had met in  Mumbai India with Igbo leaders and some Coalition of Biafra agitators from different countries in Asian with the view of halting further embarrassment of Government officials and dignitaries, especially Igbo leaders”.

“There were displeasure and aggressive issues concerning perceived maltreatment meted on Igbos which was expressed by those who were present at the meeting but, resolutions were reached and will be communicated to the Secretary General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Dim Uche Okwukwu, who oversees the office of the Ohanaeze Youths and South East Governors forum”, the statement read.

The statement further noted that, “We want to assure our Governors and Ministers that, there will be no more further embarrassment in Asia as this Consultative dialogue and meetings will be replicated in America, Europe and African countries in nearby Future”.

“We will continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari's administration and South East Governors and protect them both at home and in Diaspora from further embarrassment and humiliation”, the statement concluded.
