CONTROVERSY TRAILS UCHE SECONDUS’ STAY AS PDP NATIONAL CHAIRMAN. LET HIM GO NOW….. Says Dickson Iroegbu

Mazi Dickson Iroegbu, DGN is one of Nigeria’s top movie directors in the entertainment industry and also, a political critique, activist and concerned stakeholder in the Nigeria Project.

His views as to political and social happenings in the nation have remained blunt, forthright and on several occasions, received applause by even persons with opposing views.

In this interview, Mazi DI, as he is commonly addressed, has remained committed to call for the removal of Prince Uche Secondus; National Chairman of the PDP while also, supporting the stance that President Buhari resigns ASAP.

Following the loss by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the 2019 Presidential elections in to General Muhammadu Buhari it has been a litany of loses for the party, including the loss of Imo State at the Supreme Court. Recall, the PDP also lost another stronghold, Bayelsa State. What in your opinion is the future of the party.

Well, I think the leadership of the main opposition (PDP) slept on duty, and the enemy came at night and stole the people's mandate from their hands. 

The plan of the ruling party is to annihilate the main opposition party in Nigeria, and they are not joking about it. What happened in Imo state is the trajectory of misapplied justice. Everything about the Supreme Court judgment on Imo is purely illegal and illogical.

I sincerely think it is not good for our nascent democracy. The Bayelsa case is simply a self-inflicted injury. The leadership of the party was shortsighted and so the party lost. The governor (Gov. Dickson) disappointed me.

How would you rate the leadership of the party and the contributions of its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus? Can the party give APC a run for its money in 2023?

Of course, it is common knowledge that few days ago I publicly said that if I were a member of PDP, I would have mobilized party men and women to demand for the resignation of the National Chairman (Prince Uche Secondus). Although, the 2019 elections has come and gone, but it is my view that the Atiku/Obi mandate was “stolen” successfully, simply because of the obvious poor leadership skill of the National Chairman. Secondus cannot lead PDP to victory in 2023; he cannot give what he does not have.

In Imo State, there were defections from the PDP to APC, especially in the State House of Assembly. What in your opinion, was responsible for that?

It exposes the lack of ideology of those politicians. They lack principles and tact, no vision. One would have expected them to, at least, do oversight duty of Rebuilding Imo Project for at another six months, but alas, they do not care about the people.

How would you rate Buhari's second term so far?

Visionless! With the gross abuse of human rights and increased corrupt practices!! This government is reputed for nepotism, very corrupt and very empty. Only God can save Nigeria from this crass ineptitude!

Talking about insecurity, what is your take on the drama that played out between the Southwest and the Attorney General of the Federation?

Amotekun is the greatest strategy towards our nationhood since 1960. Amotekun is restructuring in motion; a huge step towards finding solution to the lingering insecurity in our ancestral land. The AGF's drama as you called it, will remain what it is - DRAMA.

Amotekun has come to stay! I have also advised the Governors of the South East to copy and paste the concept in their region and others alike.

The call for "Community Policing" is spreading across the entire country. Do you think that will help curb insecurity and growing in the country?

Community Policing is the only antidote to insecurity in our native land and Amotekun has become the catalyst to a lasting solution; we must embrace it with both hands.

The Buhari government is obviously overwhelmed, should the people not defend themselves against invaders? Who does that!

In a couple of days, Feb. 14 it would be the burial of Nnamdi Kanu's parents and there are rumours he might attend. What is your advice for him?

If I were Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I will come back home to Nigeria for the burial of my father and mother and let the heavens fall.

Do you believe in IPOB and what is your take on the call for Biafra?

It is a known fact that Igbo people believe in Justice, Equity and Fairness. If our struggle for these basic democratic tangibles comes across to the people in power, as struggle for Biafra, well, no apologies. Are we not all Biafrans in Nigeria? Brother, Nigeria cannot make good progress, until we remember BIAFRA Day.

The Buhari administration has recently approved payment of #33,000:00 for Youth Corpers in Nigeria as their monthly allowance; part of his promise in 2014. Do you see this as fulfillment of promises made?

I commend the policy of pay rise for the corpers. However, I also think it will be another waste of lean resources, if the corpers' mission is not rigged constitutionally. What I am simply saying is that government should revive technical schools and make it a compulsory clause for every youth corper as it will encourage productivity.

The call for the resignation of President Buhari by Senator Abaribe, has seen many criticize him for his stance. Do you agree with the Senator that the President should step down following the inability of his security chiefs to address the situation?

If indeed the President had any integrity, he would have since resigned, because he has obviously no clue about anything. "HE IS NOT AWARE!" The holier than thou posture of the Buhari led federal government provoked the Most Distinguished Senator Enyinnanya Abaribe (MINORITY LEADER) to speak truth to power and oh, how i adore his courage!
