Insecurity in Kaduna state, is daily assuming a worrisome dimension as no week passes without a report of kidnap thereby, causing residents to fear for their safety.

Zaria, the host community of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University has been thrown into confusion as unidentified armed men stormed the quiet Hayin Malam, in Zangon Shanu area.
The armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, had on Friday night, stormed the residence of Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, a former Vice Chancellor of the institution (ABU)  and abducted four (4) persons.
In the process of abducting the four persons, the suspected kidnappers also shot and injured a hunter.
Available information reveals that those abducted from the residence of the former ABU VC located in the same community of Hayin Malam, includes Maryam Abdullahi Mustapha; a staff of ABU and her two children including elder sister.
Meanwhile, PRNigeria has reliably gathered the two children were rescued when a neighbour fired and killed one of the kidnappers. The elder sister was also released when the gunmen discovered that she had asthma.
According to a resident in the neighbourhood who witnessed the incident but prefers not to be mentioned, said that only the mother, Maryam was taken away by the kidnappers.
Attempts by PRNigeria to get reactions from the police spokesperson in Kaduna State, DSP Yakubu Sabo, proved abortive as calls and text messages sent him were not replied.
