Supporters of the HeartLand Football Club of Owerri, in Imo state; one of the top teams in Nigeria Premier League have been advised to discard recent publications in some section of the media against the person of the Chairman of the NPL side, Barr. Charles Babatunde Ezekwem.  

Giving this advise is the Northern Coordinator of Heartland FC, Comrade Callistus Ikeh while speaking with the media recently.

According to the Northern Coordinator the football side, this advise became expedient following allegations of non-performance against the present chairman of the Owerri based premiership side, Barr Charles Babatunde Ezekwem, sponsored by some group of persons that seek to distract the team from its progressive climb.

Comrade Callistus Ikeh told NAIJNEWSALERT.SPORTS that it is a cheap blackmail from out of favour former board members that are trying to sabotage the good efforts of the current Club chairman that had transformed the club.

The Northern Coordinator of the Heartland Fc disclosed that, “when the chairman came on board, he was able to give everyone the freedom to handle their various departments freely, without interference from him”.

"It is no longer news that some people are working tirelessly, in trying to blackmail the chairman of our dear club before our football loving Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodinma”.

“But, lucky enough, the Governor appreciates the effort that was being put in place by the club chairman, Barr. Babatunde Ezekwem who has always being working without waiting for government to allocate finance to him”.

 “I was in Okigwe recently and the supporters of the Governor revealed that His Excellency is on ground to provide support for the team, to greater heights especially with the good work the chairman, alongside with his management team is doing. I do not believe that those trying to pull down the good work on ground would ever succeed as my chairman remains focused in carrying out his civic duties", he stated.
