The move by the Federal House of Representatives to repeal the Quarantine Act and enact the Control of Infectious Diseases bill stirred controversy on Thursday.

This was the disclosure on Saturday by the anchor of the popular television series; ‘Nigeria Right Now’, Mazi Dickson Iroegbu in a message to Naij News Alert.

According to the ace movie director and award winning producer, this was revealed to him by one of the most respected voices in the 9th Assembly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, in a telephone chat with #DicksonIroegbu of (Nigeria Right Now).

Iroegbu disclosed that, Senator Abaribe, in the telephone chat, assured Nigerians that the National Assembly has since suspended the suspicious Bill from the House of Representatives.

He confirmed that the Senate will not amend any Bill now until the novel #Covid19 pandemic is over.


The bill, which scaled second reading before it was stood down on Tuesday, has 82 sections, and was sponsored by House Speaker Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
