Human Trafficking: Okowa's Aide Genevieve Mordi Urges Deltans to Speak Out.

“Human trafficking is a menace to the society. There is a need to sensitize the youths against pursuing unproductive and unprofitable ventures abroad. We shouldn't encourage it in any way”.

“The Delta State Government will always fight against Human Trafficking".

The Senior Special Assistant on International Relations and Special Duties to the Delta State Governor, Dr Genevieve Mordi has urged Deltans to speak out against every form of Human Trafficking.

Dr. Mordi, who is also a member of the high-powered 17-man Task Force to check human trafficking and irregular migration in the state made this known in Asaba while receiving members of the Symbols of Hope, the Compassionate branch of the Lutheran Church with worldwide Headquarters in Switzerland.

The visit, which was led by the Country Director of Symbols of Hope, Rev Gabriel Emmanuel, the Research and Monitoring Director, Mr. Linus as well as their Focal Persons in Delta State Mrs. Rebecca Isagbah and Pastor Elisha.

During the Visit, Genevieve Mordi kicked against all forms of Human Trafficking as she encouraged Deltans to report any cases of suspected Human Trafficking

Speaking also at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Social Works, Mrs. Pally Eghove said there is need for reorientation of youths via empowerment, monitoring and encouragement”.

“Every youth needs to be supported and need to support the Delta State efforts against Human Trafficking”, she stated. 

Meanwhile, the Country Director of Symbols of Hope, Rev. Gabriel Emmanuel, the Research and Monitoring Director, Mr. Linus as well as their Focal Persons in Delta State, Mrs. Rebecca Isagbah and Pastor Elisha who spoke during the visit, commended the efforts of the Delta State Government at reducing the rate of Human Trafficking.
