NSCDC KADUNA AGRO RANGERS EXPRESSES PREPAREDNESS IN PROTECTING AGRIC INVESTMENTS

With investors in the agricultural sector and farmers expressing fears over insecurity and safety concerns, especially with apprehensions over a likely food shortage, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Kaduna state Command has assured of its preparedness secure such investments in the State. 

This assurance became imperative following the encouragements to investors in agriculture in Nigeria, by Federal and State governments

The Kaduna state Commandant of Corps, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma, made this known on Saturday in a statement issued by the state Command Public Relations Officer, ASC Orndiir Terzungwe on behalf of the State Commandant, after an inspection exercise to some Agro allied industries located in Kaduna State.

According to Babangida Dutsinma in the statement, the Command presently provides security to no fewer than 12 agricultural beats comprising of government and private ownership. 

The statement further noted that, the Commandant, in one of his interactions with stakeholders in the state, on assumption of duty in August 2019, had promised the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) and his counterpart in the Farmers' Association of Nigeria, that he would create a conducive security environment for agric to thrive in the state.

He disclosed that, following the directive of the Commandant General, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, the Kaduna state Command had successfully trained over 150 Agro Rangers personnel. 

“We have the capacity and will discharge our duties effectively in protecting wise investments in agriculture”, Dutsinma added. 

He called on residents of the state to collaborate with the Corps in this area, noting that security is a collective responsibility and should not been seen as an exclusive duty.

Speaking earlier, the Command's Head of Agro Rangers, ACC Ogiri Adekpe who represented State Commandant during the inspection tour, expressed optimism that with the support of all and sundry, the menace of rustling, banditry among other things affecting agric investments would be curtailed. 

Some of the locations visited on the first day include Golden Acres Limited along Kaduna- Abuja Express Way, Funage Farms, National Food Reserve Agency, Dino Agric Daries and Federal Minisry of Agriculture Development Project.
