WHO IS TO BLAME; THE OPPRESSOR OR THE OPPRESSED?— By Orisun (PART 2)

I personally have discovered the hard way, that in this country, Fear is it! 

Most people, indeed, over 80% in both North and South divides, are very unhappy with the raging inequalities and unfairness going on but just cannot speak out for the fear of being branded or maligned even by people you pity and who are the least expected to do so. 

Most of them want a change or shift from the current happenings but are too afraid to lose the little crumbs being handed them, even at the great expense of their sacrificing their self-worth and mortgaging the future of generations to come. 

However, I thank God that so many people are beginning to recover from this devilishly induced coma of inaction that they have been in, and are just beginning to see clearly what some of us have been seeing, till date. 

Some people said to me that they did not know I had “this” in me! 

We all have “it” in us when we are marginalized and pushed too far. 

 

When two Service Chiefs from non-Revenue contributing areas of our National economic space, “rob Peter to pay Paul”, to set up National institutions only in their backyards, it is really pushing it too far. And, when appointed sycophants use our National resources to establish numerous institutions and infrastructures (viable or otherwise) all in one remote   place just to show they are “loyal, Sir” and either ignoring or forgetting the real Geese laying the Golden eggs as well as the places where the eggs are currently being laid, then they are pushing it too far. 

Moreover, when almost all National appointments are lopsided, that’s pushing it too far; doing things as if boasting; “what can you do?” That’s really pushing it too far.

Need I continue? Just tune in to the TV any day and you see or hear names of DG this, DG that; Executive Secretary (ES) this, and ES that, Chairman this, Chairman that as well as  several other big portfolios, you would think that Nigeria is of a single ethnic or religious group. 

I am not a Tribalist or a religious bigot (those who know me would testify) and I am not your regular “Activist”.  Rather, I am only a fair minded “humanist” who can not look the other way when such injustices abound. They say, “Get the truth and sell it not”.

I am just concerned about leaving a legacy for future generations to come so that when our grandchildren are asking; “what did you do to save them from being third - class citizens in their Father Land? I can hold up my hand boldly and say that I had cried out but was never heard because,  those who were supposed to cry out along with the few of us, did not do so as they were afraid of being labeled or afraid to “die”. Not even the Pressmen, who are meant to be the People’s vanguard did much because their “owners” won’t let them do so for the sake of “Bread” and “Power”. 

My write-ups are not because of joblessness (far from it) but out of the need to expose the True life Stories (not fictions) just in case most people have become too comfortable while suffering or have become complacent even in the “face of daunting challenges” as one of “us” called it, to remember where we were supposed to be. So lend your voice so that the oppressors would know that 5% cannot continue to be on top of 95% for any reason whatsoever.
