ZAMFARA GOV SHUNS HUMANITARIAN MINISTER DURING COURTESY VISIT

The sour relationship between Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, Executive Governor of Zamfara state and the Ministerial appointee, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq who oversees the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management seems to be deteriorating everyday.

The situation reportedly worsened over the weekend after the Zamfara state governor was alleged to have the Minister waiting for hours, without seeing her in spite of the fact that both of them were in the Government House on Sunday June 7th.

According to reports, the Minister was in Zamfara for the distribution of palliatives to some beneficiaries of the programme and had gone straight to the Government House on her arrival in the state, to pay a courtesy call to the Governor.

Unfortunately, she was unable to see the governor who was in another wing of the Government House.

After waiting several hours alongside her aides, an obviously angry Sadiya Farook rushed out of the Government House and headed straight to the quick response unit of the NAF and flew back to Abuja thereby, abandoning all the guests, relief materials and palliatives in Gusau where the distribution programme was meant to kick off on Monday 8th June.

One of the Governor’s aide and staff of the Government House who was contacted but pleaded anonymity, made it clear it was the best thing that was done and that the Governor, Dr Matawalle decides who to see and who not to see.

According to him, "this is a woman who has no regard for her people here in Zamfara despite all that we have been through and still going through, Sadiya has never supported in any way in her capacity as Humanitarian Minister. She does not come to Zamfara which is her own birth state because she is Abuja's big woman".
